David Gregory, ParenteBeard partner and executive vice president of Presscott Associates, a division of ParenteBeard, discussed his study on the use of percutaneous ventricular assist devices in Pharmacy Choice, the leading web portal for pharmacy resources, news, education and careers.
Mr. Gregory said, “In this era of healthcare reform, these models help identify the most effective and efficient ways to manage patients, particularly patients with the potential to generate significant costs if not managed properly.”
Data for this study were obtained from a nationally recognized database compiled by OptumInsight, Inc. comprising claims generated by a national commercial health plan consisting of approximately 25 million members. This model tracked patients for a full year subsequent to the initial hospital stay.
With a varied healthcare background, ranging from hospital operations management to managed care network development and underwriting to provider and life sciences reimbursement optimization, Mr. Gregory directs projects for hospitals, physicians, health plans and life sciences and technology companies. He plays a key role in the Advanced Medical Technology Association, Association of Health Insurance Plans, American College of Health Care Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
